Ortofon offer their exchange scheme to any customer who currently owns one of the cartridges listed above, and is looking to replace it with a new model. If you fit within these requirements, you are able to apply a discount to your next moving coil cartridge purchase; moving up, down or staying at the same level within the range. 

If you choose to stay at the same level or move down the range, you can take 25% off the value of the cartridge you are purchasing, regardless of how superior your current model is (see Examples 1 and 2 below). Alternatively, if you choose to move up the range you can apply the saving you make on the current equivalent of your cartridge to any superior model (see Example 3 below).

Customer has an old Kontrapunkt A cartridge, and would like to exchange for a Rondo Bronze. The Rondo Bronze is the modern equivalent of the Kontrapunkt A, so on returning his item the customer receives a 25% discount on the Suggest Retail Price of the Rondo Bronze.

Example 2: 

Customer has an MC Salsa cartridge and would like to exchange it for a Vivo Red. The modern equivalent of the MC Salsa is the Vivo Blue, but this is superior to the Red. The customer can only get a maximum 25% off the value of the cartridge he is buying, so take 25% off the Suggested Retail Price of the Vivo Red, and this is the customer’s special price.

Customer has a Kontrapunkt B cartridge and would like to exchange for a Cadenza Bronze. The modern equivalent for the Kontrapunkt B is a Cadenza Red. Take 25% off the current Suggested Retail Price of a Cadenza Red (£795 / 4 = £198.75 (based on pricing in August 2011)) to get the saving you can apply to a superior cartridge. Take this saving away from the current Suggested Retail Price of a Cadenza Bronze, and you have your special offer price (i.e. £1350 - £198.75 = £1151.25 special discount price).

Ortofon and Henley Designs offer this service as an alternative to a ‘refurbishment’ or ‘re-tipping’ service. It is our opinion that if the internal mechanics or the diamond tip of a cartridge are modified, replaced or restored, the fundamental element of what made that cartridge unique is lost, and it will therefore never be fully restored to what you once had. With our exchange scheme, you get rewarded for being an existing Ortofon customer and are able to update your system easily.

This offer is also open to non-working cartridges. So if you've had an accident and broken your cartridge, or the stylus, suspension, cantilever or any element of the cartridge is irreparably damaged, we're still happy to help. We take cartridges in all conditions back on this scheme.
